International Conference on Child Labor Protection in the Era of Social Media Held at the Faculty of Law Unesa

Surabaya, December 10th, 2024 – The Faculty of Law at Universitas Negeri Surabaya (Unesa) successfully hosted an international conference titled Salus Populi Suprema Lex: Protecting the Best Interest of Child Labor in the Era of Social Media from the Perspective of ASEAN Labor Law. This important event was held at the Faculty of Law Unesa's auditorium and saw a significant participation of scholars, legal experts, and practitioners in the field of labor law.
The conference was officially opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Law Unesa and featured two distinguished speakers. Dr. Asril Amirulah Zakariah, a law lecturer and legal consultant from Unisza Malaysia, shared his insights on labor law and the protection of child rights in the context of ASEAN. Meanwhile, Dr. Terubus S.Kep., Ns., S.H., M.KKK, a Labor Inspector from Disnakertrans East Java, discussed the role of labor inspection and the implementation of child labor protections in Indonesia.

With 229 registered participants, the conference saw 176 attendees joining in person, while 214 participants attended either offline or online. A total of 110 abstracts were submitted for consideration in the conference, indicating the significant interest in the topics covered.
This event provided a platform for exchanging knowledge and fostering discussions on the challenges and solutions in protecting the interests of child laborers in the digital age, particularly within the framework of ASEAN labor laws.
